TEN Signs Contract with SCI Houtzdale

Pittsburgh based The Efficiency Network, Inc, a subsidiary of Duquesne Light Holdings, enters into a Guaranteed Energy Savings contract, valued at $30.5 Million, with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution, Houtzdale.

The Pennsylvania Department of General Services and Pennsylvania Department of Corrections have entered into a contract with The Efficiency Network (TEN) to implement over $30 million in energy efficiency investments at the Department of Correction’s Houtzdale, PA facility.

The agreement between the Commonwealth and TEN was developed via the Guaranteed Energy Savings Act (GESA). Through GESA, the department will invest in energy efficiency measures at Houtzdale and pay for them over time with the annual savings from reduced utility consumption.

The Houtzdale project will invest in lighting & lighting control upgrades, conversion of boiler plant fuel from coal to compressed natural gas, new steam and hot water boilers, new steam and hot water distribution systems, new chiller plant & distribution system, water conservation, and building automation upgrades. The projects are projected to reduce the facility’s energy spending by over 33%.

TEN, based in Pittsburgh, provides energy efficiency services to state and local government, higher education, healthcare, and K-12. TEN is a subsidiary of Duquesne Light Holdings.
